OncoGenex Pharmaceuticals is a drug discovery and development company uniquely focused on the challenge of cancer treatment resistance. We are committed to bringing forward innovative, first-in-class medicines that target mechanisms of resistance and that have the potential to re-define treatment paradigms in a variety of cancers.
OncoGenex was established in May 2000 as a spin out from the Prostate Centre at Vancouver General Hospital and the University of British Columbia. It was founded by Dr. Martin Gleave, the Company’s scientific founder and Chief Scientific Advisor, and Scott Cormack, OncoGenex’ President and CEO, initially to develop and commercialize custirsen (OGX-011), discovered at the Prostate Centre by Dr. Gleave and his colleagues.
We have since expanded our business and scientific operations and have recruited top, global- talent. OncoGenex’ headquarters and our clinical and regulatory teams are now located in Bothell, Washington. The office of the CEO and other critical business functions remain in Vancouver, ensuring OncoGenex’ continued partnership with the University and leading cancer researchers. This also allows us to forgo the need to establish a preclinical infrastructure and maintain financial efficiencies.
